Our
Story
Hunger doesn't take a holiday
Pass the Snacks Geelong was founded in 2023 by Geelong local, Dee Cropley, after a simple but confronting realisation: there was no food relief service which specifically addressed school holiday hunger.

What started as a pilot response to an unmet need has grown into a community movement – powered by volunteers, donors, schools and businesses who all believe that all kids should have access to ample food during the school holidays.

WHY WE EXIST
Across Australia, too many kids are experiencing school holiday hunger. This looks like:

-
No breakfast before the day begins
-
No lunch during the day
-
One-meal days during school holidays
-
Caregivers skipping meals so the kids can eat
Many kids and their families rely on school for food relief during the school term. This means the holidays exacerbate food insecurity and food stress at home.

WHAT WE DO
We provide food relief boxes for primary school aged kids through our network of local schools within the Geelong region.
Our food boxes are filled with a variety of foods such as:
-
Breakfast staples (cereals, oats)
-
Lunchbox favourites (muesli bars, crackers, fruit cups)
-
Easy meals (pasta, sauce, noodles, tuna)
-
Baking mixes (pancakes, muffins)

HOW WE DO IT
We do this through:

-
Raising awareness about child food insecurity and school holiday hunger
-
Collecting food donated
-
Hosting community Packing Days with our awesome volunteer Snack Squad
-
Delivering the food relief boxes directly to schools just before the school term ends
